Fabian Madness

I believe God has been leading me to look more closely at the ideas that influence the Labour Party and many of the policies I see shaping our nation. In my view, many of these policies are harmful to Britain, undermine our Christian heritage, and are contrary to biblical principles.

Some Labour politicians are members of the Fabian Society (a left-wing think tank), while others are not. However, I believe many share similar socialist ideas, and some (for example Andy Burnham) have contributed to Fabian publications or maintained longstanding links with the organisation.

The Fabian approach has historically been one of gradual, incremental change rather than sudden revolution. In my view it is covert tyranny. My concern is that policies can be introduced over time that reshape society in ways I believe are incompatible with God's Word and traditional Christian values.

I cannot remain silent. As Christians, we are called to test everything against Scripture and to speak the truth in love (1 Thessalonians 5:21; Ephesians 4:15).

Spiritually, I sense warning bells are ringing. It's as though we are heading toward an iceberg unless we change course. I believe Britain needs a different direction and a different government with a different approach.

At the ballot box, I intend to vote for Reform because I believe it offers a radical, different approach on issues such as immigration, border security, and national policy. Whatever our political views, we should all pray for wisdom, righteousness, and God's mercy upon our nation.

Going down this rabbit hole reminds me of when I was studying for my Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Theology (Christian subjects). At that time, Tony Blair was Prime Minister.

I remember being surprised to discover that, in university essay writing, we were expected to use BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era) rather than BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini, "in the year of our Lord") when referring to historical dates. As a Christian, I found that change deeply troubling because I felt it reflected a move away from Britain's Christian heritage and traditions.

Looking back, I saw it as part of a wider cultural shift that concerned me. From my perspective, it symbolised an increasing willingness to remove Christian language and influence from public life. As a believer, I understand passages such as 1 John 4:3 and 2 Thessalonians 2:7 to warn that there is a spiritual opposition to Christ at work in the world, and I believe Christians should exercise discernment. It is the spirit of the anti-christ.

At the time, I felt powerless to challenge these changes. Today, I believe it is important to speak up. In my opinion, many of the policies and ideas promoted by the Fabian Society are presented as compassionate or progressive but ultimately undermine biblical values and Britain's Christian heritage. It is a deception. I believe Christians should carefully examine every ideology in the light of God's Word and pray for wisdom and discernment.

I wrote about Christ in my university essays anyway—I simply had to use the new academic terms BCE and CE instead of BC and AD. As a Christian, I found that deeply disappointing. To me, "Before Common Era" strips away the historical reference to Christ that had been part of our dating system for centuries. I saw it as another example of Christianity being pushed to the margins of public life.

The Bible warns us that there is a spiritual battle taking place and that believers must exercise discernment (1 John 4:1-3). As Christians, we should not be surprised when biblical values are challenged or replaced by secular ideas.

My conclusion is that Fabianism is an ideology with which I strongly disagree. In my opinion, many of its ideas and policies undermine Britain's Christian heritage and biblical values. They build bad systems. It is authoritarian and uses the law to do bad things. They are cowardly. They want state control. I also believe it discourages serious criticism of its worldview and promotes policies that I see as driven by envy and class division rather than biblical principles such as justice, truth, personal responsibility, and love of neighbour.

As Christians, we must remain vigilant, test every idea against God's Word, and have the courage to speak the truth with conviction and grace.
