Woke Bishops in the Diocese.
So the new Bishop, Rt Revd Dr Toby Howarth of Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield has a PHD in Islam? Mixing Christianity with Islam? Is he another left-wing wokey Bishop?
When did Church leaders become more interested in other religions than proclaiming Christ?
So, let me get this straight. This bishop has a PhD in Islam?
That raises an important question: why would a Christian bishop devote so much academic study to Islam rather than focusing on proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ? My concern is that too many church leaders today seem more interested in interfaith dialogue than standing firmly on biblical truth.
As a Christian, I believe there is only one true God and that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). For that reason, I reject Islam as a false religion and do not believe Muhammad was a prophet of God.
When I studied Theology at Leeds University, I chose to focus on Christian theology and the Bible. I stayed away from Islam. I also studied what Scripture says about false gods and false prophets. That strengthened my conviction that Christians should remain faithful to Christ rather than blending biblical truth with other belief systems.
My concern is this: will church leaders continue to promote biblical Christianity, or will they increasingly embrace religious pluralism? Many Christians feel that Christianity is being sidelined while other religions receive special accommodation in public life.
The United Kingdom has a rich Christian heritage, and I believe we should not be ashamed of it. The Church should boldly preach Christ, not dilute the gospel to fit the spirit of the age.
"I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from Me there is no God." — Isaiah 45:5
God hates mixture.
