SCUMBAGS
"Scumbag" is not a term used in the Bible, but it is a word many people use to describe someone who is wicked, dishonest, and willing to cheat or rob others.
The book of Proverbs gives a vivid description of such a person:
"A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth, who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart—he always stirs up conflict. Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy." (Proverbs 6:12–15, NIV)
Do you know anyone like that? I do. But God sees every scumbag, every cheat, and every evildoer.
David certainly encountered people like this. He wrote:
"I hate the two-faced; but I love your clear-cut revelation. You're my place of quiet retreat; I wait for your Word to renew me. Get out of my life, evildoers, so I can keep my God's commands." (Psalm 119:113–115, MSG)
I can identify with David so much.
If you have scumbags in your life, don't let bitterness consume you. Let God deal with them. He sees everything, and His justice is perfect.
"Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord." (Romans 12:19, NIV)
