Elam, Prophecy, and God’s Sovereign Power
See, I will break the bow of Elam,
the mainstay of their might
(Jeremiah 49:35).
Elam is often understood to refer to modern-day Iran in the Bible. God will break their military might!
The Iranian regime has refused to reach an agreement with the United States to abandon its nuclear ambitions. This ongoing tension raises serious global concerns, particularly about the potential use of such weapons and the impact on the West and beyond.
As believers, we recognise that behind political conflicts there are also deeper spiritual realities at work. Scripture reminds us that our struggle is not merely against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12).
In times like these, it is easy to feel anxious about what may come next. With peace talks failing, many are watching closely to see how world leaders will respond. Yet ultimately, our trust is not in governments or political decisions, but in God’s sovereign power.
We pray for divine intervention—for wisdom for leaders, for protection over nations, and for peace where there is hostility. We also pray for the people of Iran, that truth, freedom, and the light of Christ would reach them.
God is just, and He is able to deal with nations according to His purposes. As followers of Jesus, we hold fast to His words:
Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me (John 14:6).
